Fort Saint John (or Fort St. John) B.C. is located in the Peace River Regional District. Often referred to as the "Energetic City", Fort Saint John was originally established in 1794 as a trading post. Fort St. John is the oldest European-established settlement in present-day British Columbia. The town offers a strong local arts community with live theatre, dance, music and traveling shows at the 400-seat North Peace Cultural Center. There is also excellent shopping!

Anglican Chapel of the Holy Cross

Beatton Provincial Park
This Provincial Park is found in the rolling eastern foothills of the Rockies on the east side of Charlie Lake. It is beautifully set amongst poplar and spruce trees and features a beach, boating, swimming, and a campground. The aspen-lined hiking trails in Beatton Provincial Park double as cross-country skiing and snowmobiling routes. Snowshoeing and ice fishing are also popular activities within the park. Charlie Lake Provincial Park
Charlie Lake Provincial Park is situated on the southwestern shore of 13 km long Charlie Lake. Covering 92 hectares, the Park lies within the rolling landscape of the Interior Plains. Wander a forested trail, enjoy the developed beach, boat launch, fishing, playing field, hiking, and walking. If you like to fish, the Lake is famous for walleye and northern pike. Dinosaur Lake
This manmade lake was created during the construction of two dams and today is a recreation area with a boat launch and hiking trails.

North Peace Cultural Centre
The North Peace Cultural Centre has been the centre of the Arts & Cultural Community since 1993. You will find the unique lobby and concourse that stretch for a city block. The Center has acquired "A Mall for the Arts" reputation. Paralleling 100th Street, and entering on 100th Avenue, you walk by the Peace Arts Gallery, Box Office and Administration, and the Cultured Cafe (our sidewalk style Bistro). The entrance to the Public Library is next or head upstairs to relax in our open loft that has a 270 degree view of the city. When you leave the back doors, you are on the next block. North Peace Museum
The Museum features the history of the North Peace area and its early residents. Pioneer exhibits, a trappers cabin with an original fur press, and an Alaska Highway construction exhibit can all be found on display. Peace Canyon Dam
This dam is located at the outlet of the Peace River Canyon and is 23 km downstream from the W.A.C. Bennett Dam, reusing the same water. Behind this Dam is a reservoir called Dinasaur Lake, named for the evidence of dinosaur fossils discovered during the dam's construction. Peace River
The River offers access at many points along Highway 29 to the offering excellent fishing and canoeing in a picturesque setting. The mighty Peace River can be viewed in all its glory from the lookout point, which offers a breathtaking view of the Peace River Valley. North American's longest river system, the Mackenzie-Peace River system, flows over 4,200 kilometres from northern BC to the Beaufort Sea in the Arctic Ocean.

W.A.C. Bennett Dam
Visit the W.A.C. Bennett Dam and witness an incredible engineering feat! Located on the eastern tip of Williston Lake, it is constructed with rocky debris from a glacial moraine left from the last Ice Age. Visit the Visitor's Centre at for details on tours and information on generating electricity.
