Above Tide
Found on the banks of the Campbell River you will find, "Above Tide", a B.C. Heritage attraction. This is the home of Ann and Roderick Haig-Brown located on 20 acres of green space. Roderick Haig-Brown was a writer and a conservationist known for his well written books and his great understanding of the outdoors. Five species of pacific salmon spawn in the river as well as summer and winter steelhead and cutthroat trout inhabit the river on their yearly cycles. The surrounding 18.5 acres are home to native and exotic trees, whitetail deer, grouse, the occasional cougar and black bears wander through the land to gorge on the orchard windfalls. Cape Mudge Lightstation
The lighthouse was built in 1898 and has helped guide many mariners into Discovery Passage. Located at the south end of Quadra Island, just outside of Campbell River.

This unique museum is found on Quadra Island (just a 10 minute ferry ride away). The Kwakiutl Museum features a fine collection that reflects the history and traditions of the Kwakiutl people in nearby Cape Mudge.

Miracle Beach Provincial Park
This Provincial Park is an ideal spot for a family vacation! The Miracle Beach Provincial Park is located midway between Courtenay and Campbell River on the east coast and is one of the most popular parks on Vancouver Island. The broad safe sandy beach is perfect for sandcastle building or studying the marine life of tidal pools.

Morton Lake Provincial Part
This Park is nestled in the Sayward Forest northwest of Campbell River and it fronts on Morton Lake and Mohun Lake. The Park is often used as base camp from which to start or end the Sayward Forest Canoe Route. During summer months visitors enjoy fishing, boating, swimming and canoeing in either Mohun or Morton Lakes. You can also spend some relaxing time on the lovely sandy beach on Morton Lake. A forested trail from the campground leads to tranquil Andrew Lake. The 67-hectare Morton Lake Provincial Park is located north of Campbell River off Island Highway 19, continuing on the Menzies Main and Morton Lake logging roads.

Museum at Campbell River
This is one of the finest community museums in BC, claims the Encyclopedia of British Columbia! You will find that this modern, international class museum exhibits focuses on the First Nations, colonization, early settlement and resource industries. Take the climb into an early logging truck, step aboard a float house dock, or sit within a darkened theatre where a local chief narrates an ancient legend, as lights reveal a series of spectacular ceremonial masks. We carry a variety of contemporary, original First Nations art in the Museum Shop and we also offer extensive Archives, audiovisual theatre and year-round history based programs. Rebecca Spit Ocean Park Rebecca Spit Provincial Marine Park
This narrow hook of land is found on the east side of Quadra Island. Offering an excellent area for beach exploration and picnicking. Sandy beaches line both sides of the 2-km spit at this popular day-use park overlooking sheltered Drew Harbour, a favorite anchorage for boaters. Walking trails lead along both sides of Rebecca Spit and offer lots of opportunities for exploring the beach, which contains a high concentration of driftwood. Swimming, fishing and kayaking are all popular activities at Rebecca Spit’s large picnic area. Facilities include picnic tables overlooking the beach, a grass playing field, wheelchair accessible pit toilets and fresh water. You will find a more than 2 km sand spit is a unique natural feature. Strathcona Provincial Park
This Park is located on central Vancouver Island near the communities of Campbell River and the Comox Valley. As the Park is located almost in the centre of Vancouver Island, Strathcona is a rugged mountain wilderness comprising more than 250,000 hectares. Mountain peaks that seem to be perpetually mantled with snow dominate the park. Lakes and alpine tarns dot a landscape laced with rivers, creeks and streams. Summer in Strathcona is usually pleasantly warm, while winters are fairly mild except for the higher levels, where heavy snowfalls are the norm. Snow remains all year on the mountain peaks and may linger into July even at moderate elevations. Summer evenings, as elsewhere in the coastal regions of BC, can be cool and rain can be expected at any time of the year. Admission is charged to the Park.
